Master Phil Akins.

Master Phil Akins 7th Dan

Phil is the senior instructor and founder of the Akins Academy of Combat Ju-jutsu.

As well as being a Master of combat Ju-jutsu he holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and is a former BJJ European Open Champion.


Mr Ian East.

Ian has over 30 years experience in the martial arts and holds Dan grades in Judo, Aikido and Ju-jutsu, and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

He has qualified as a coach with the British Judo Association and holds instructors certificates with ASMAA.

Ian has also qualified as a police self protection instructor.



Mr Adrian Symons.

Adrian has over 20 years experience in the martial arts.

He has studied freestyle Kickboxing, Judo and traditional Ju-Jutsu.

He holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and was a silver medallist in the 2008 BJJ European Open Championships held in Sweden.

Adrian holds instructors qualifications with ASMAA.

He is employed as a Health and Safety manager in Wales and West Utilities.


Mr Ian Cardy.

Ian is the senior instructor at the Neath Judo Kwai.

He has over 35 years experiance in judo and other related martial arts and has been coaching at Neath Judo Kwai for over 15 years.

Ian is a retired teacher and former head of department at Neath Port Talbot College.
